The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, "Nasser Kanaani," strongly condemned yesterday, Saturday, the imposition of sanctions by Canada, the United States, and Britain on certain individuals and entities within the Iranian armed forces.

He also condemned what he described as "allegations" made by the European Parliament against Iran and criticized specific countries in Europe for accompanying the repressive approach of the U.S. administration, according to the official Iranian news agency "IRNA."

Kanaani added that "Iran's military capabilities are commensurate with its needs to ensure security and national interests and to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity and legitimate defense and deterrence against any threats and external aggression," adding that Iran is "one of the important partners of the international community in ensuring regional and international peace and security and in combating international terrorism."

Kanaani strongly criticized the double standards of the European Parliament regarding Israel's aggression against the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus and Iran's legitimate defense, stating, "It is unfortunate that the European Parliament has limited itself in its resolution to expressing regret about the aggressive act and violation of international laws and rights by the Zionist entity against the Iranian diplomatic building and the martyrdom of Iranian officials fighting terrorism, while strongly condemning Iran's legitimate response against the aforementioned entity within the framework of the original right to legitimate defense!"

Kanaani affirmed that many peoples and governments, especially in the West Asia region, no longer have any hope or faith in the role of America and its European allies in helping to establish stability and security in the region.
