The Israeli radio quoted far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir as saying that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to inform him about a draft proposal for a prisoner exchange deal, but he is procrastinating.
Ben Gvir threatened to bring down the government if Netanyahu agreed to a "irresponsible and bad" deal, as he put it.
Ben Gvir expressed his desire to be at the forefront of these negotiations, rather than the leaders of the Israeli external intelligence agency (Mossad) and the Israeli internal security service (Shin Bet), according to Al Jazeera's news website.
Regarding the war front with Lebanon, Ben Gvir said: "If I were assigned the responsibility for the fighters and missiles, Hezbollah would know what Israel's real response looks like."
