Significant drop in temperatures in western and southern Manitoba

Warnings have been issued regarding the continued drop in temperatures south of Manitoba province with the arrival of an air mass coming from the North Pole around the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The Ministry of Environment reported that temperatures will range between -40 to -50 in some areas and will continue at this level throughout most of Wednesday and overnight.

These warnings also include the far north of the province up to Red Deer Lake (north of Swan River, near the Saskatchewan border) and along the southern US border.

The warnings also cover the Interlake region and southern Manitoba along with the Whitemouth area in the east.

Temperatures are expected to be even lower during the day in Winnipeg on Wednesday where they may reach -26 degrees Celsius.

The temperature will continue to drop to -31 degrees Celsius on Thursday according to the weather forecast center.
