Police in central Ontario say they have seized an illegal network for the production and distribution of cannabis and confiscated more than $6 million worth of illegal hashish and related products, including edibles.
In a press release issued Thursday, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the Provincial Joint Forces Combating Drug Team (PJFCET) initiated an investigation into the illegal operation and executed five search warrants on April 21.
These search warrants included three residential properties and two vehicles, resulting in the seizure of 800 kilograms of various types of hashish and 700 grams of psilocybin.
Three vehicles valued at $75,000 were also considered crime-related property and were included in the seizure, along with nearly $400,000 in Canadian currency.
The police said the total value of the seized items is estimated at more than six million dollars. Three suspects face 13 combined charges as a result of the investigation.
Thomas Coriley, 60, from Ome, Kapilan Anora, 26, from Bolton, Thanuga Tarmakulasekaram, 27, from Claremont, are all charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of sale and possession for the purpose of distribution under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
