A teacher and a student lost their lives, and six others were injured with varying degrees of severity, including two students in critical condition, following a shooting incident that occurred today, Monday, at "The Abundant Life Christian" school in Madison, the capital of Wisconsin, USA.
According to the police, the perpetrator, a 17-year-old student, opened fire using a 9mm handgun before ending her life by shooting herself.
The incident, which took place during the last week of the semester before the Christmas holiday, has shocked the local community. Madison Police Chief Shawn Barnes stated, "Everyone in this building has become a victim of this tragedy, and its effects will be with them forever."
The school administration reported that students and teachers responded quickly to emergency procedures, which had previously been practiced in collaboration with the police.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden called for urgent action to tighten gun possession laws, emphasizing that "senseless violence in schools is unacceptable."
Investigations are still ongoing to determine the motives behind the incident, while the local community is suffering from a deep shock as a result of this tragic event.
