Toronto police reported that they were called to Bishop Marrocco / Thomas Merton Catholic Secondary School in the area of Bloor Street West and Dundas Street West at 12:45 p.m. on Monday regarding a report of a person carrying an air pressure gun.
When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old girl injured by a bullet from this type of weapon. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) says the school was immediately closed pending investigation of the incident.
The board’s spokesperson Shazia Flahous said, "We hope the injured student recovers and of course we sympathize with the victim and her family."
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy at the school and charged him with possession of dangerous weapons.
Less than four hours later, police were called to Weston Collegiate Institute on Lawrence Avenue West and Pine Street area.
A 15-year-old boy was found with wounds to his head and arm after being shot with pressure gun bullets.
The boy was then taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 15-year-old suspect was charged with assault with a weapon, making threats, and using dangerous weapons, while the 17-year-old was charged with carrying and concealing a weapon.
According to the Youth Criminal Justice Act provisions, none of the three suspects involved in these incidents can be identified.
It was reported that the suspect in the first incident, which took place at Bloor and Dundas, is expected to appear in court on July 12.
The suspects in the second incident are also expected to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday morning.
