The Minister of Justice in Alberta is expected to announce more details about the proposed plan to provide a regional police service expected to replace the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Tyler Shandro is scheduled to speak at the MacDougall Center.
The provincial government first mentioned the idea of moving Alberta from relying on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to its own police force after the report issued, suggesting that this step will improve policing in rural Alberta.
The UCP government also acknowledged that it would save millions, but another report indicated that transferring the service altogether will cost the province about $366 million and take six years to complete.
