Russia announced today, Saturday, September 24, 2022, the replacement of the general responsible for logistics in the army. The Ministry of Defense stated in a statement the dismissal of General "Dmitry Bulgakov" from his duties as Deputy Minister of Defense due to his transfer to another position.
He was replaced by General "Mikhail Mizintsev" (60 years old), who until then was heading the National Defense Control Center, and will now become the Deputy Minister of Defense "responsible for the material and technical supply of the armed forces," according to the same source.
"Mizintsev" held several positions within the General Staff during his long military career, and Western sanctions were imposed on him for his role in the siege of the Ukrainian coastal city of Mariupol, which was occupied by Russian forces last May.
This change in the General Staff comes at a time when President Vladimir Putin announced this week the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of Russians to support the invasion in Ukraine.
The mobilization constitutes a major organizational challenge that requires calling up reservists to equip them and send them to training centers and then to the front.
