The local Canadian authorities have requested that about a thousand residents of "Bourg-Cartier" in the Canadian province of Quebec evacuate their homes due to the risk of a forest fire.
This was stated in a post on the "X" platform by Quebec's Minister of Public Security François Bonnardel, as reported by media outlets on Saturday.
A source at the highly secure "Bourg-Cartier" prison mentioned that staff could be evacuated and inmates transferred from the correctional facility safely, according to a news report by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation quoting the Canadian prison service.
The website for "Bourg-Cartier" prison announced a suspension of visits due to the "changing emergency situation regarding the forest fire."
