The police in Northern Ireland ordered the evacuation of more than 400 homes to remove what is suspected to be a World War II-era bomb.
The police said on Sunday that the removal operation could take more than five days.
The device was discovered on Friday in Newtownards, an area in County Down, about nine miles (15 kilometers) east of Belfast.
North Down and Ards Area Commander, Johnston McDowell, said, "I understand the disruption this has caused, however, ensuring people's safety is paramount, and we will not take any chances." "I would like to thank those who may be affected for their patience at this time."
The police set up barriers and asked drivers to avoid the area.
An emergency support center was established for residents who had to leave their homes.
