Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: International reactions rejecting settlement are insufficient to suppress the Israeli occupation

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned settlement in all its forms, and the resulting violations and crimes committed by settler militias and their terrorist organizations against Palestinian citizens, their land, property, homes, and sanctities on a daily basis under the protection of the Israeli occupation army.

The Foreign Ministry statement said, "We view positively the international positions and reactions rejecting settlement, especially European and American positions, including the cancellation of the so-called 'Pompeo Principle.' However, these positions remain weak and insufficient and fall below the ceiling that the occupation state can coexist with, as long as they are not accompanied by practical measures and real pressures forcing Israel to stop all its settlement activities."

The ministry pointed out in a press statement today, Sunday, the Israeli government's insistence on building thousands of new settlement units in the occupied West Bank, especially in East Jerusalem, despite widespread international condemnation and warnings about the risks of this decision on the situation in the conflict arena, creating more tensions and escalation, and the fact that settlement represents real dangers to the possibility of applying the two-state solution principle.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council to bear its responsibilities in implementing resolution 2334, and also called for putting settlement associations, organizations, and militias on terrorism lists and imposing sanctions on them.

On another note, Israeli settlers stormed today, Sunday, the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the occupation police.

Local sources reported that dozens of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa from the Moroccan Gate side, carried out provocative tours in its courtyards, and performed Talmudic rituals.

The occupation forces set up a barrier around Bab al-Khalil, searched citizens, and prevented them from entering to pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

On another front, the occupation forces arrested at least 15 Palestinians from the West Bank, including journalist Sami Al-Shami and former prisoners, since last night until this morning, Sunday.

The arrests were distributed across the governorates of Hebron, Nablus, Jericho, Jenin, and Ramallah. Alongside this, the occupation forces continue to carry out widespread punitive operations, beatings, threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction operations in citizens' homes.

The Prisoners' Club stated in a statement that the total number of arrests since last October 7 has risen to about 7,225. This total includes those arrested from homes, at military checkpoints, those forced to surrender under pressure, and those held as hostages.

The statement added that the ongoing and unprecedentedly escalating arrest campaigns come as part of the comprehensive aggression on our people and the ongoing genocide in Gaza after October 7, which targeted all segments including children, women, the elderly, and the sick.
