Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the families of the three Israeli soldiers who were killed Saturday morning by an Egyptian recruit, and Netanyahu pledged that the unfortunate and serious incident will be fully investigated.

The Prime Minister said in a statement, "I want to commend our forces who struggled to respond and killed the terrorist," and Israeli President Isaac Herzog also offered condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, saying in a statement issued this evening that "there are no words to describe the pain and loss," adding, "We will protect our citizens and continue to defend and strengthen our borders."

On the other hand, the Israeli army confirmed that the forces at a site near the border did not respond by firing after the Egyptian recruit's attack, confirming that preliminary investigations into the soldiers' deaths indicate that the recruit entered Israel through the emergency gate used by the Israeli army to cross the border when necessary in coordination with the Egyptian army and acted alone.

Also, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke with his Egyptian counterpart, Major General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki, after the bloody exchange of fire at the border. Gallant said, according to a statement from his office, that "cooperation in investigating the serious attack is of great importance for the relationship between the two countries."

Gallant also, according to the Times of Israel newspaper, expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian defense minister's commitment to conduct a joint investigation into the details of the serious incident, and stressed the importance of cooperation in investigating the attack to prevent further incidents in the future.

The Israeli defense minister told his Egyptian counterpart that "the relationship between Israel and Egypt is extremely important for both countries, and both sides must ensure that the difficult incident does not harm the good security relationship between the two countries," and at the end of the conversation, both sides agreed to continue direct relations to prevent terrorist incidents in the future and to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
