The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, confirmed that Morocco's positions on the Palestinian issue are "clear and firm," as expressed by King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
Bourita explained, in a statement to the press following talks with the Minister of Social Development in the Palestinian government, Ahmed Majdalani, that Morocco supports the two-state solution, meaning the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital, confirming the King's support for the Palestinian Authority and all it does to preserve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The minister emphasized that "Morocco is against anything that could undermine the prospects of this solution, against unilateral actions, against settlement policies, and all provocative acts that could affect the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."
Bourita pointed out that Morocco has relations with the State of Israel, and these relations have not and will not affect Morocco's relationship with the Palestinian people and Morocco's defense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as affirmed by the King on December 10, 2022, in a call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
On the other hand, Bourita noted that his meeting with the Palestinian minister was an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Palestine in all fields, and in the field of social affairs in particular, expressing Morocco's readiness to put all its capabilities and experience at the disposal of the brothers in Palestine, within "the clear directives of King Mohammed VI that Morocco stands alongside the Palestinian state, the Palestinian Authority, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."
He said that "the current circumstances in the region require a kind of prudence and de-escalation, and that each party must assume its responsibility, away from unilateral policies and provocations," adding that "Morocco has expressed this position clearly following the recent policies of the Israeli government, which include some kind of strengthening of settlements and provocations, especially in the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
