The Montreal Police (SPVM) announced the opening of a wide investigation following a shooting at Carrefour Angrignon in LaSalle, Montreal, last Friday night.
The police also received an emergency call around 9:10 PM, reporting hearing gunfire near the shopping center.
The suspects fled before police officers arrived at the scene, where they found several shell casings on the ground and at least two projectiles lodged in the building of the center.
For her part, Sabrina Gauthier, SPVM spokesperson, said: "According to initial information, a car approached another parked car before shooting at it, then the individuals involved fled into a store before escaping in an unknown direction." No arrests have been made by the police yet.
However, a 19-year-old injured man was taken to the hospital shortly after, and his injuries are not life-threatening.
Caroline Chévrier, an SPVM officer, said yesterday morning, Saturday: "The circumstances surrounding this individual, who is believed to have been stabbed, remain unclear."
She added, "At this time, we cannot confirm any connection between these two events."
