A snow warning came into effect on Saturday in the Metro Vancouver area, where residents were still cleaning up the aftermath of a strong windstorm on Friday night.
Now, snow is on its way for those living in the high elevations of the area.
Canada's Environment and Climate Change Ministry stated that snowfall is expected to reach up to 10 centimeters at higher elevations in the area on Saturday night and early Sunday.
The federal weather agency also stated that while some locations near sea level may start to see light snow, accumulation is unlikely.
However, at high elevations, snow accumulation can reach five centimeters and even up to 10 cm at the highest sites.
The agency warns drivers that snowfall may lead to reduced visibility on the roads.
It is worth mentioning that at the peak of Friday night's storm, the power went out for more than 330,000 residents on the southern coast of British Columbia.
By 5 p.m. Saturday, BC Hydro said crews worked through the night and power was restored to more than 275,000 customers.
According to the company, about 55,000 customers remained without power. The hardest-hit areas were Surrey, Abbotsford, Burnaby, and Nanaimo.
