The police announce a hit-and-run accident in the city of Quebec

The Canadian police announced serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the city of Quebec.

Later, it was announced that two people were killed and nine others injured, where the police said that  two people died and nine were injured after a car collided with several pedestrians in downtown Amqui on Monday in the Lower Saint Lawrence area in Quebec.

The 38-year-old driver surrendered to the Quebec Provincial Police (SQ), who confirmed the information to Noovo Info, and the police confirmed that he was arrested. 

A spokesperson for the Quebec Provincial Police SQ said the deceased were a man in his sixties and another in his seventies.

Among the injured being treated at Amqui Hospital are children.

Minister of Public Security, François Bonnardel, said initial information indicates a "serious accident," adding that teams are on their way to deal with the event.

A small truck, according to the Canadian "CBC" network, collided with several pedestrians in Quebec causing multiple injuries, some critical.

For his part, Pascal Bérubé, who represents the area in the regional legislative council, said he was going to the scene and was upset by what he heard.
