A mother in Ottawa faces new charges, including second-degree murder, in connection with the death of her seven-week-old infant a year and a half ago.
The infant died on October 26, 2021, at a home in the Britannia area in the western part of the city.
The police have now charged 35-year-old Pouravi Booth with second-degree murder and criminal negligence causing death.
Booth and her boyfriend, Patrick O'Connor, the infant's father, were also charged earlier this month with failure to provide the necessities of life.
The identities of the accused were previously protected by a publication ban, but the police say the ban has been lifted with the new charges.
