The Danish shipping company "Maersk" stated that it has been decided to reroute all ships scheduled to cross the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden southward around the "Cape of Good Hope" in the future.

The decision comes following an announcement made on January 2nd that it will stop all ships in light of the recent incident involving the ship "Maersk Hangzhou" and ongoing developments in the region, according to the "Bloomberg" news agency today, Friday.

The company said, "The situation is continuously evolving and remains highly unstable, and all available intelligence confirms that the security threat remains at a significantly escalating level."

The company added, "They have informed customers to prepare for ongoing complications in the region and significant disruption in the global network."

18 companies providing logistics services are avoiding the Red Sea route following several attacks on commercial ships, according to the International Maritime Organization.

This came against the backdrop of the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea on November 19 last year, with the group saying it targets Israeli ships and those linked to or heading to Israel, in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

On December 18 last year, the United States announced the formation of a coalition of several countries to deter Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

The governments of the United States, Germany, Britain, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, and New Zealand issued a joint statement the day before yesterday, Wednesday, warning the Houthis against carrying out further attacks in the Red Sea.

The Ansar Allah Houthi group in Yemen rejected the statement yesterday, Thursday.
