In his annual Christmas message, King Charles III (76 years old) praised the human spirit and dedication shown by the doctors and nurses who supported his family during this difficult year, which saw his and Princess Kate's diagnosis of an undisclosed cancer.

The king said in his pre-recorded speech:

“From a personal perspective, I offer my heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses who helped us face the challenges and anxiety caused by illness, and provided us with the strength and care we needed.”

The absence of Prince Andrew: a decision or public pressure?

The Christmas celebrations in Sandringham witnessed the absence of Prince Andrew amid ongoing pressures on the king to keep him away from public life due to financial scandals and his controversial associations. The king aims to refocus attention on the new generations in the royal family, particularly Prince William and Princess Kate.

Global conflicts and the commemoration of veterans

The king also addressed global crises in his speech, referring to wars in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, and praised the veterans who participated in the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landing last June.

The king concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of solidarity and compassion, urging everyone to reflect on the values of giving and cooperation, especially in light of the difficult times the world is currently facing.
