Abdullah Bouhabib, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Lebanese caretaker government, reported today, Wednesday, that the country will file a complaint against Israel at the Security Council following attacks on civilians in residential areas, after an Israeli raid on the Tyre-Naqoura road in southern Lebanon that resulted in the death of two people and the injury of others.

According to Al Arabiya channel, the Israeli raid in Tyre targeted Hadi Mustafa, a member of the Hamas movement in Lebanon, a leader of the Al-Qassam Brigades, and the logistics support official.

Another person, a Syrian national passing through the area, was killed, and a third was injured.

Two security sources stated that an Israeli raid targeted a car near the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon and killed its driver, and the Lebanese National News Agency also reported that a drone targeted a car south of the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.

The agency added that the Israeli drone targeted a tourist car and a motorcycle in the attack closest to the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon, as the attack site is about two kilometers away from the city.

The agency also mentioned that the Israeli warplanes launched an air raid targeting the Labouneh area in Naqoura and the outskirts of Alma al-Shaab in southern Lebanon as well.

New TV also mentioned today that the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will submit a complaint to the UN Security Council after Israeli attacks on March 11 and 12 on civilians in residential areas around the city of Baalbek and neighboring villages.

This comes amid the current tension on the border between Israel and Lebanon amidst escalating mutual shelling between the Israeli army and the Lebanese Hezbollah group, which erupted with the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 last year.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Israeli fighter jets carried out strikes deep inside Lebanon for the second consecutive day, hitting a facility belonging to Hezbollah in the Beqaa Valley.

The Iran-backed group said late today that two of its members from the Beqaa Valley were killed.

The Israeli army confirmed that its fighter jets "bombed two military command centers of Hezbollah" in the Baalbek area in response to the group firing rockets towards northern Israel earlier Tuesday.

The violence represents an escalation of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which coincides with the Gaza war and raises fears of a full-scale conflict between the two rivals who each possess a large arsenal of weapons.

Hezbollah announced in a statement that it launched more than 100 Katyusha rockets at several Israeli military sites in response to Israeli shelling of the Beqaa Valley area last night.

At least one civilian was killed and others injured after Israel carried out strikes on Monday, one of which hit the southern entrance to the city of Baalbek, approximately two kilometers from Roman ruins.

The Israeli army said that in response to the rocket launches on Monday, its fighter jets bombed sites in the Baalbek area used by Hezbollah to store "large assets used to enhance its weapons arsenal."

The Israeli army added that "a military complex in the Khiam area and terrorist infrastructure in the Bint Jbeil area were also bombed," referring to two towns in southern Lebanon.

One Lebanese source said a Hezbollah member was killed and several others injured in an air raid on the village of Nabi Sheet in the Beqaa Valley.

Hezbollah Stronghold

The targeted area is a stronghold of the group near the Lebanese-Syrian border

The Gaza war ignited the worst fighting between Hezbollah and Israel since the 2006 war. The violence escalated day by day, but the strikes carried out by both sides have significantly increased over time, targeting a wider range of areas.

The violence has largely been contained to areas near the Israeli-Lebanese border, with notable exceptions including the first Israeli air raid on the Beqaa Valley on February 26, and an Israeli drone strike on January 2 in Beirut that killed a senior Hamas leader.

The Israeli strikes since October have resulted in the deaths of more than 200 Hezbollah fighters and about 50 civilians in Lebanon. Attacks from Lebanon on Israel have killed about 12 Israeli soldiers and six civilians. Tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese fled villages on both sides of the border.
