The army radio announced that after a 6-hour chase, the perpetrator of the shooting attack in Jerusalem was arrested.

It also mentioned that the perpetrator of the Jerusalem attack surrendered to the police and it is now being investigated whether he is truly the perpetrator of the attack.

It explained that the perpetrator of the Jerusalem attack is Amir Saidawi, who holds Israeli citizenship.

For his part, the Israeli army minister Benny Gantz said on Twitter: "A difficult attack tonight in Jerusalem, the forces are working in the field and will arrest the perpetrator and his aides."

Earlier today, Sunday morning, the Israeli Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, confirmed that security agencies are working to pursue the shooter in Jerusalem, threatening not to stop until he is captured.

Seven people were injured, two of them seriously, as a result of an armed attack targeting a bus in central Jerusalem early Sunday, according to Israeli police and paramedics.

The police said they were informed of "gunfire on a bus in the Old City, and police officers surrounded the area and are searching for a suspect who fled."

“Magen David Adom,” Israel's medical emergency organization, said it "responded after receiving reports of gunfire on a bus in Jerusalem."

He added, standing in front of the bus that was pierced by bullets, "I saw two people on the bus bleeding. Everyone was terrified."

Last week, the Israeli army launched a "pre-emptive operation" in the Gaza Strip against the Jihad movement, which responded by firing a batch of rockets towards Israel.

At least 49 Palestinians were killed, including Jihad fighters and children, as a result of this military escalation that continued until a ceasefire came into effect.

A ceasefire was reached through Egyptian mediation, allowing crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip, under Israeli blockade for more than 15 years, to reopen last Monday.

The spokesman for "Magen David Adom," Zaki Heller, said that "there are a total of 7 injured, including one woman and six men," noting that "the condition of two of them is critical."

The bus driver, Daniel Kanievsky, said in press statements at the scene: "The bus was full of passengers. I stopped at the bus stop in the (Tomb of David) area. At that moment, the firing started."
