South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor announced that it is equipping its electric Ioniq 5 N SUV to participate in the international PPIHC hill climb race, also known as the "Race to the Clouds," in the United States.
Participation in this annual race is limited to invited companies and began in 1916, making it the second oldest car race in the United States.
According to Hyundai, two Ioniq 5 N cars with engines producing 641 horsepower will participate in the race, with the goal of attempting to set a record. The cars will be driven by Paul Dallenbach and Ron Capps.
Additionally, Dani Sordo and Ruben Gonzalez will drive two other modified Ioniq 5 N cars.
Hyundai stated that minor modifications were made to the standard Ioniq 5 N for participation in the race. The company intends to paint the cars participating in the race in red with exciting new Hyundai N livery.
