Buying a house in the famous major Canadian cities is very expensive, with the average house price ranging between $1,091,300 and $1,123,400 in Toronto and Vancouver respectively.
However, a new report revealed the cheapest cities to live in Canada in 2023.
Also, according to the real estate company "Nesto," many cities and towns in remote Canada are economical to live in.
The company analyzed the best cities according to housing affordability data and job growth.
These cities are:
Sept-Îles in Quebec:
It has a population of about 28,500 and is about eight hours by car from Quebec City, with an average house price of $204,042 in September, and a property tax rate of 1.5%.
Due to its location in a rural area of Quebec, you may need to improve your French if you do not already speak the language.
Bécancour in Quebec:
This city is located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River and has a population of about 12,500 people. It is largely an industrial city and is about an hour and 45 minutes from Montreal.
The average house price is $206,748, with a property tax rate of 1.26%.
Quesnel in British Columbia:
This city, with a population of about 12,000, is located in the Rocky Mountains, and the average house price is $209,133.
It is about eight hours by car from Vancouver.
Cornwall in Ontario:
It is located near the Quebec and United States border and has a population of about 50,000.
It is also located along the St. Lawrence River, with an average house price of $211,715, and a property tax of 1.71%.
Timmins in Ontario:
Timmins is about eight hours north of Toronto and has a population of 42,000, with an average house price of $212,922, and a property tax rate of 1.88%.
Saint-Georges in Quebec:
It is about three hours by car from Montreal, has a population of about 31,000 people, and is a manufacturing center in the region.
The average price is about $219,124.
Rimouski in Quebec:
It is home to about 47,000 people and is located directly on the estuary of the St. Lawrence River.
It is three hours by car from Quebec City, with an average house price of $227,673 and a property tax rate of 1.10%.
