Authorities announced today, Tuesday, the crash of a helicopter over a building in central Ireland, resulting in a number of casualties. The incident occurred near Kilbeggan in County Westmeath at around 3:30 PM local time.
Pat Hunt, the acting Chief Fire Officer of the Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service, stated that emergency services have been mobilized.
Hunt told Midlands 103 radio station, "What we understand is that there are a number of casualties," but "we cannot confirm the number at this stage."
The Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit reported that it has deployed a team of inspectors.
