German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is heading to Canada on an official four-day visit, and the Governor General Mary Simon in Ottawa welcomes Steinmeier at 5:45 local time / 11:45 PM Central European Time. Preliminary talks will be held with the president Steinmeier. A meeting is scheduled between Steinmeier and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau next Monday. The following day, Steinmeier intends to visit a fuel cell factory in Vancouver, among other things, and take a look at a pilot plant for smart energy systems. Steinmeier is accompanied on his trip by his wife Elke Büdenbender and a large trade delegation. German Minister of Education and Research, Bettina Stark-Watzinger (Free Democratic Party), will also participate in the trip. The trip ends next Wednesday with a visit to the far north of the country, where Steinmeier wants to learn more about the already evident consequences of climate change there.
