Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced today, Wednesday, that he will cut diplomatic relations with Israel due to its actions in Gaza.
According to breaking news reported by the Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post," Petro has already strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and requested to join South Africa's lawsuit accusing Israel of committing genocide at the International Court of Justice.
Last March, Petro threatened to cut diplomatic relations with Israel if it did not comply with the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously accused Petro of being "pro-Hamas," stating that Petro's stance is "a disgrace to the Colombian people."
