Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said that vaccinated travelers will no longer need to show a COVID-19 test to enter Canada starting April 1.

Tourists arriving will still have to show vaccination proof to visit Canada, and all incoming travelers must also upload their data on the ArriveCan app.

Duclos says vaccinated individuals may also be subject to random molecular tests upon arrival at Canadian airports.

As for unvaccinated Canadians returning to the country, they will undergo quarantine and testing on arrival in addition to another test again after eight days.

This news comes at the end of the Omicron wave in Canada, where reported new COVID-19 cases have decreased since mid-January.

The World Health Organization says the number of cases internationally has begun to rise in the Western Pacific, Africa, and Europe regions.
