According to the new survey, healthcare ranked first among Ontario residents as candidates for the provincial election began their official campaign on the first day.

The Nanos Research survey was conducted on 500 adults on behalf of CTV News and CP24. It found that 27 percent of respondents considered healthcare the top issue directing their vote.

Nick Nanos, the data expert, said: "To launch the 2022 Ontario provincial election, healthcare was recorded as the most important unprecedented issue concerning Ontario residents."

After healthcare, 12 percent of those surveyed listed the cost of living and inflation as their top concerns.

Meanwhile, 11 percent said their primary issue was housing, and 10 percent were more concerned about the economy and jobs.

When it comes to the environment, eight percent of those surveyed said it was their primary issue, followed by education and debt/deficit, each receiving 5 percent respectively.

The survey was conducted between April 28 and May 2. Participants were randomly contacted via mobile and landline phones.

The results are accurate within a margin of 4.4 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

-Methodology:

Nanos conducted a random hybrid RDD telephone and cell phone survey of 500 Ontario residents aged 18 or older, between April 28 and May 2, 2022, as part of a comprehensive survey.

The results were statistically examined and weighted by age and gender using the latest census data, and the sample was geographically stratified to be representative of Ontario.

Individuals were randomly called using random number dialing with up to five callbacks. The margin of error for a random survey of 500 Ontario residents is ± 4.4 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
