Japanese media reported today, Saturday, April 15, 2023, the evacuation of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida following the sound of an explosion at a time he was preparing to deliver a speech at a fishing port in the west of the country.
Several media outlets spoke of the throwing of an object resembling a "smoke bomb" without any injuries or damage at the scene, according to AFP.
The authority also said that Kishida was at the beginning of delivering a speech after a tour of a fishing port in the city located in western Japan when the incident occurred.
Despite the incident, the Japanese Prime Minister continued his visit to the west of the country.
A person was arrested at the scene, at Saikazaki Fishing Port, where Kishida was scheduled to deliver a speech, according to the public television channel "NHK".
The authorities did not immediately issue an official confirmation, while
the police refrained from commenting.
