A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Solosarai area in Tokat province in northern Turkey on Thursday evening, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
AFAD reported that residents of the neighboring provinces of Samsun, Yozgat, Kırıkkale, and Çorum felt the earthquake, according to Turkey's Anadolu Agency.
It added that "so far, a two-story house in Yozgat and five barns in Solosarai have been affected."
It is worth mentioning that two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 on the Richter scale struck southeastern Turkey and northern Syria on February 6 of last year, followed by thousands of aftershocks.
In total, more than 57,000 people lost their lives in both countries, and more than two million people were left homeless in Turkey alone.
