A senior official close to the ongoing talks on a Gaza truce stated that Hamas has received a new proposal from Paris, allowing for an initial halt to all military operations for 40 days.
Paris proposal for a Gaza truce
The official explained to "Reuters" that the Paris proposal for the truce in Gaza includes a commitment to allow the entry of 500 aid trucks daily into Gaza, providing thousands of tents and caravans, in addition to repairing bakeries and hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
Exchange of Palestinian and Israeli prisoners and detainees
The official added that the proposal presented by Paris to Hamas also includes the exchange of Palestinian and Israeli prisoners at a ratio of 10 to one, in addition to allowing the gradual return of displaced civilians to northern Gaza, except for adult males of military service age.
Release of Israeli hostages in exchange for a group of Palestinian detainees
The Paris proposal also includes the release of all Israeli detainees among women, children under 19, and the elderly, in exchange for the release of a certain number of Palestinian detainees.
Israel halts military activities in the Gaza Strip during Ramadan
US President Joe Biden said that Israel has agreed not to conduct military activities in the Gaza Strip during Ramadan, warning that Israel risks losing support from the rest of the world as large numbers of Palestinian casualties continue to fall.
Intensification of Israel's campaign to destroy Hamas
Biden added, during an interview with NBC: "Israel has committed to allowing Palestinians to evacuate from Rafah in southern Gaza before intensifying its campaign there to destroy Hamas."
