Officials said on Thursday that a Canadian climber was killed in Mount Rainier National Park in Washington state earlier this week.
In a press release, it was stated that Chun Hoi Chang, 52 years old, died on Monday while descending from the Cleaver route on Mount Rainier.
After several unsuccessful attempts to locate the body, National Park Service rangers reached the area where Chang fell using a helicopter, and his body was recovered the day after the fall according to eyewitnesses.
Mount Rainier is an active volcano standing at 14,410 feet above sea level. Last month, three people were killed while climbing in Glacier National Park in Montana, according to park officials.
In June, a 48-year-old climber died while ascending Denali in Alaska, the highest peak in North America. Two other climbers also died in May in Denali National Park.
