A couple from San Soufir returned to court on Wednesday, where they face charges related to attacking a teenager over a prank. The charges against 65-year-old Claude Bourguignon and his 53-year-old wife Mariama Diaby include kidnapping the child, death threats, as well as assault and false imprisonment.
Their trial began on Tuesday, when the teenager, who was 13 at the time, was bored with his friends and they decided to play a game called "Ding Dong Ditch," where participants sneak up to houses to ring doorbells or knock on doors and then quickly run away.
While most teenagers were warned, Bourguignon chased two of them in his Porsche, pulling one of them into his garage. According to the charges, Bourguignon pinned the teenager to the ground and tied his hands behind his back with a rope.
Bourguignon faces multiple charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault, and making death threats, while his wife Mariama faces charges related to false imprisonment and assault.
One of the four teenagers involved in the incident was questioned by the defense attorney, and Bourguignon was present during the session, occasionally shaking his head. During the trial, several witnesses are expected to testify, including a neighbor and other teenagers who were involved in the incident.
