Toronto and most of the surrounding area are experiencing a severe thunderstorm today, Wednesday.
Environment Canada issued the warning shortly after 10 AM, stating that conditions are favorable for storms that could produce heavy rainfall of up to 50 mm per hour and winds reaching speeds of 90 km/h.
Heavy rainfall may cause flash floods and water accumulation on roads.
The National Weather Service warned that water-related activities may be unsafe due to strong and sudden winds over bodies of water.
Rain is expected to begin this afternoon and continue into the evening.
The severe thunderstorm warning includes the Greater Toronto Area and a large portion of southern and southwestern Ontario, with Hamilton also included in the severe thunderstorm warning.
The storm comes just over a week after a record rainfall in Toronto on Tuesday, when the city recorded nearly 100 mm of rain in a matter of hours. Many of the city's busiest roads were flooded at that time, forcing some drivers to abandon their cars.
