The City of Calgary is hosting the 24th “Youth Employment” fair next month, where young people will be brought together with employers.
This free event will take place on April 6 from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Big Four building on the Calgary Stampede grounds.
The city said this is the largest youth employment event in Calgary, usually attended by about 5,000 people aged between 15 and 24 years.
This year, there will be more than 80 companies looking to fill job vacancies immediately.
Tara Huxley, the city’s community programs and services coordinator, emphasizes that there will be plenty of jobs available.
She also said: “This year’s fair attracted employers looking to hire full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees in a variety of industries, including entertainment, customer service, warehousing, hospitality, and financial services.”
Organizers of the Calgary Youth Employment Fair remind anyone wishing to attend to bring their resume and say you can improve your chances of employment by connecting with the Youth Employment Center beforehand.
Huxley also said: “The Youth Employment Center has all kinds of free services and tools to help you prepare for the fair, so come early to speak with an employment expert and get help polishing your resume, crafting a job search strategy, preparing for an interview, and even career planning.”
If you can’t make it to the fair, the center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing professional services and free employer connections year-round for anyone aged 15 to 24.
