A trilateral summit held in Cairo between the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the UAE, stressed the importance of sustaining efforts to restore calm in Jerusalem.
El-Sisi received, today Sunday, in a brotherly and friendly meeting at Al-Ittihadia Palace King Abdullah II and Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, according to a statement by the official spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Bassam Radi.
The Egyptian president expressed appreciation for the close and historical relations that unite the three countries at both the official and popular levels, as well as their extended civilizational interconnection.
El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's aspiration to enhance constructive cooperation with Jordan and the UAE, and to move forward together towards broad horizons of strategic partnership that establish extended relations and achieve common interests, contributing to the enhancement of joint Arab action, especially in light of the great challenges facing the region, in addition to the economic and social crises resulting from multiple regional and international developments.
For their part, Egypt’s guests appreciated the close ties between the three countries, confirming their keenness to elevate cooperation with Egypt to the level of strategic partnership, for the benefit of the brotherly peoples in the three countries, and to maximize their benefit from the opportunities and potentials inherent in their cooperative relations, adding further momentum to this fruitful cooperation in various sectors, as these relations represent a cornerstone for maintaining regional security and stability and restoring balance to the region, in light of the pivotal importance of Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE regionally and internationally.
The official spokesperson added that the meeting witnessed discussions on the developments of various paths of cooperation between Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE, where consensus was reached on continuing coordination and consultation regarding all issues and files of mutual concern, aiming to unify visions and movements, support joint Arab action, and exert the necessary efforts to safeguard Arab national security.
The discussions also reviewed the latest developments in the region, especially the peace process in the Middle East, and the ongoing coordination between the three countries in this regard, amid developments occurring in the city of Jerusalem.
The three leaders emphasized the importance of sustaining efforts to restore calm in Jerusalem, and the necessity of respecting the existing legal and historical status of the Al-Haram Al-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary).
They confirmed the importance of respecting the historic Hashemite custodianship role in protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and the necessity of providing all forms of support to the General Administration of the Awqaf of Jerusalem and the Affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
This comes in addition to the importance of Israel stopping all procedures that undermine the two-state solution and the necessity of finding a political horizon to return to serious and effective negotiations to resolve the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and according to international law.
Views were also exchanged on a number of international issues, especially the developments of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the Arab role in this regard through the Arab Contact Committee.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of prioritizing the language of dialogue and diplomatic solutions, and efforts that would lead to the rapid political resolution of the crisis in a way that preserves international security and stability, ensures no escalation or deterioration of the situation, and prevents the exacerbation of humanitarian and economic conditions and their impact on the region and globally.
The presidency spokesperson stated that the meeting included hosting an Iftar banquet in honor of Egypt’s esteemed guests, where the brotherly leaders exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.
Also, the president and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi congratulated the King of Jordan on the success of the recent surgery he underwent, wishing him continued health and wellness, while the latter expressed his thanks and appreciation for the kind brotherly feelings shown by his Egyptian and Emirati brothers.
