More than a quarter of a million worshippers revived, today Wednesday, the Night of Decree (27th of Ramadan), in the precincts of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem said in a statement: More than 250,000 worshippers flocked to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque - the Noble Sanctuary to commemorate the Night of Decree, amid tight measures imposed by the occupation authorities on the holy city.
Eyewitnesses told a (Petra) correspondent in Ramallah that the courtyards and prayer areas of Al-Aqsa were crowded with worshippers who came from the city of Jerusalem, from the 48 areas, and those who managed to reach from the West Bank, defying the occupation's restrictions and checkpoints to celebrate the Night of Decree.
About 250,000 worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers in the precincts of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid Ramadan atmospheres that added a special magic to the enchantment of Al-Aqsa.
The i'tikaf performers set up their Ramadan tents in the corridors of Al-Aqsa, to revive the Sunnah of i'tikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan, raising the Palestinian flag, and their voices resounded with takbeers and chants for Al-Aqsa.
The occupation police reinforced its forces in Jerusalem and deployed about 3,000 personnel around the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, announcing that it will apply the same conditions on the entry of worshippers on the Night of Decree as those applied on their entry on Fridays during the blessed month of Ramadan.
