The Vote16 summit in the Canadian House of Commons pointed towards a renewed campaign aimed at lowering the legal voting age in Canada to 16 years.

Over the past few years, there have been several attempts to bring about some changes, and the president of the Young Politicians Organization in Canada says that the time has come to make a final decision.

Jaden Preves, who is 15 years old, said: We cannot wait any longer to involve young people in Canada in determining our future, and I am concerned about the lack of voice for young Canadians and the disregard for our voices.

The organization is calling for more youth involvement in politics, especially among those aged 14 to 24.

These developments coincide with Senator Marilou McPhedran presenting a bill to the Senate, which may be voted on in the second reading in the coming weeks.

If the bill passes, it will lower the national voting age to 16 years.

It is worth noting that the voting age in federal elections in Canada was 21 years until 1970, when it was lowered to 18 years.
