The Arson Unit of Ottawa Police has identified two individuals and charged them following a fire at a commercial establishment in the eastern part of Ottawa.

On February 21, a fire was called in Ottawa to a company located at 5300 Canotek Road, between Rainbow Street and Green Creek Drive just before 11 PM.

Fire crews reported smoke and flames coming from the storefront, and several callers to 911 said they could see the flames from Highway 174.

The fire crews indicated that materials inside the building posed a danger to firefighters and that the store contained tires, which increased fuel to the fire.

Control of the fire was declared shortly before 1:30 AM.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 13, police stated that they have charged the accused individuals who broke in and set the fire, causing damages of up to one million dollars to the company.

Ottawa firefighters have controlled a fire that broke out at a business on Canotek Road late Wednesday night.
