American researchers have succeeded in inventing a type of heat-resistant wall that reduces the temperature of the house by 3 degrees Celsius.
The British newspaper "The Guardian" reported that a team from the University of British Columbia designed walls with external undulations that work through radiant cooling.
According to the study, the undulations of the walls block long-wave infrared rays that cause heat, allowing them to dissipate into the air.
The wall successfully reduced indoor temperatures by 3 degrees Celsius during experiments without the need for electricity or any energy sources.
The researchers added a movable curtain to the wall that can cover it in winter to prevent increased coldness in homes and can be removed in summer to take advantage of the wall’s cooling feature.
It is worth noting that ceiling paint is a known technique for cooling homes from below; however, paints are not suitable for walls that also receive heat from the floor in addition to the sun.
