The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that there are at least 26 pending deportation requests with Canada amid a diplomatic dispute between the two countries.

A spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs told reporters during a weekly briefing, "These requests date back to the last decade or more."

Relations between the two countries deteriorated again this week after Ottawa linked India to the killing of a separatist Sikh leader in Canada.
