A recent study revealed the spread of anti-Islam views across Canada at varying rates, with the highest levels in the province of Quebec in the eastern part of the country.

The study, published this month by the Canadian "Angus Reid" Institute (angusreid), pointed to the observation of the highest level of "Islamophobia" in Quebec, which is reflected on Muslims in several ways, with the Muslim minority facing the risk of being unwelcome in various areas of society.

While 39% of Canadians outside Quebec hold views and feelings that are unfavorable to Islam, the study found that more than half of Quebec's population, equivalent to 52%, hold such views towards Muslims.

The study included Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Sikhism, and Hinduism, and posed questions related to satisfaction with the religion, acceptance or rejection of its adherents or marrying them, or establishing their places of worship, and the level of comfort when working in the same place with adherents of each religion separately.

The comparison between the province of Quebec and the rest of the Canadian provinces revealed stark differences, according to the report. Thirty-seven percent of people adopted very positive views towards Muslims and their landmarks and religious rituals, and 27% of people showed generally positive impressions, but not in all areas covered by the study.

Sixteen percent of Canadians outside Quebec adopted "very negative" views about Islam and the religious practices of Muslims. In Quebec, 30% showed "very negative" views towards Islam and Muslims.
