The Moroccan Football Federation officially announced today, Monday, the cancellation of the friendly match for the Moroccan Olympic team against Brazil, as part of the Atlas Lions' preparations for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced in an official statement the cancellation of the friendly match that was set to bring together the Moroccan Olympic team and their Brazilian counterparts today, Monday, at the sports complex in the city of Fez, following the earthquake that struck some cities and regions of Morocco and the mourning period they are experiencing.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation issued an official statement confirming the cancellation of the friendly match that was to be held between the Moroccan Olympic team and the Brazilian team at the sports complex in Fez, after the earthquake in Morocco, which registered a magnitude of about 7 on the Richter scale, caused significant damage in many Moroccan cities, with thousands of victims and injuries recorded.

The statement from the Moroccan Federation read as follows, "The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announces the cancellation of the friendly match that was set to take place on Monday, September 11, 2023, between the Olympic national team and the Brazilian team at the sports complex in Fez."

The Moroccan Federation added in its statement: "This is after the earthquake that struck some areas in the Kingdom of Morocco and the mourning period they are experiencing; the national football family expresses its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured."

The Moroccan Olympic team qualified for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games after winning the African U-23 Cup of Nations title following their victory over the Egyptian team.

The African Football Confederation (CAF) previously decided to postpone the match between the Moroccan national team and their Liberian counterparts, which was to take place as part of the sixth round of the qualifiers for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
