A statement issued by the Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring reported that three earthquakes occurred early this morning, Monday, in the provinces of Duhok and Kirkuk, with no material or human losses.
The statement clarified, "Our seismic stations at the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded three earthquakes early this morning, Monday, felt to varying degrees in the provinces of Duhok and Kirkuk; the first one was northeast of Tuz Khurmatu in Kirkuk province, with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale."
The statement mentioned that the second and third tremors occurred in Duhok province on the Iraqi-Turkish border, with magnitudes of 4.6 and 3.1, respectively, and were felt by residents to varying degrees without any human or material losses.
The authority urged citizens to take precautions and stay away from rumors and false news and to adhere to the seismic safety recommendations issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring.
