Atlantic Canadians will learn more about the path of Hurricane Lee later this week, once it becomes clear where the powerful storm will begin its journey north.

Weather expert from Environment Canada, Bob Robichaud, stated that the hurricane will be felt by residents of Atlantic Canada by the end of next week, but the question remains how close it will come to the shore.

He also added that the point at which Lee, currently in the northeastern Caribbean, turns north could affect whether it leads to high waves along the eastern coastline, or heavy rain and winds onshore.

The expert said that this turn is expected by Tuesday or Wednesday. He noted that another key factor will be how far the area of high pressure moves east over the Great Lakes, as this system may help push the hurricane away from the Canadian coast.

Robichaud continued that another issue lies in the water temperatures along the storm's path, which could allow Storm Lee to gain momentum or lessen the storm's impact if the temperatures are low.
