The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, confirmed that he discussed with the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the preparations for the upcoming Arab summit and the Arab situations, especially the war in Gaza.
Aboul Gheit said in a statement after his meeting with the King of Bahrain that "the meeting marks the start signal for the joint preparation process between the General Secretariat and the Kingdom of Bahrain for the next ordinary Arab summit, which is scheduled to be held in Bahrain on May 16," explaining that "it was agreed to intensify joint work between the Bahraini government and the General Secretariat in the coming period to expedite the completion of all arrangements required for the summit to proceed in the desired manner both substantively and logistically."
Aboul Gheit also clarified that "the meeting with the King was rich and witnessed a lengthy dialogue about the overall Arab situations, especially the Zionist war on Gaza and its regional impacts."
