Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian Authority, stated during a phone call with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro, that the policies and actions of "Hamas" do not represent the Palestinian people.

He said: "The policies and actions of "Hamas" do not represent the Palestinian people... The policies, programs, and decisions of the Palestine Liberation Organization are what represent the Palestinian people as the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people."

Abbas emphasized the "rejection of the killing of civilians from both sides and the call for the release of civilians, prisoners, and detainees from both sides," stressing "the renunciation of violence and the commitment to international legitimacy, signed agreements, peaceful popular resistance, and political action as a way to achieve national goals, and the necessity to move towards a political solution that ends the occupation."

Abbas stressed the "necessity to immediately stop the Israeli aggression against our people, protect them, allow the opening of urgent humanitarian corridors to the Gaza Strip, provide medical supplies, and deliver water, electricity, and fuel to the citizens there."

Abbas reiterated the complete rejection of the displacement of citizens from the Gaza Strip, "as this would be a second Nakba for our people."

For his part, the President of Venezuela confirmed his solidarity and that of the Venezuelan people with the Palestinian people in their quest to restore their legitimate rights to freedom and independence, praising the approach taken by Abbas based on dialogue, diplomacy, and peace, affirming that he has decided to send urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, calling for peace and security in the region.
