Kelsey Potter, who resides in Eastern Ontario, fell victim to a banking scam that cost her about $20,000.
The story began when she received a text message that appeared to be from her bank, asking her to update her banking information. After clicking on the link and providing her personal information, Potter noticed an unauthorized withdrawal from her account.
Despite reporting the incident to the bank and the police, she has yet to recover her money.
Authorities warn the public to be cautious when receiving unexpected messages asking for personal information, and recommend not clicking on suspicious links and contacting the bank directly if in doubt.
