In a horrific incident that occurred in northwest Toronto on Monday afternoon, a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a wheelchair-accessible bus driver. The accident took place in the York area near the intersection of Eglinton West and Allen Road.
According to reports from the Toronto Police, the report of the accident was received shortly before 4 PM, and emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. The police reported that the injured man, who is in his thirties, was transported to the hospital promptly by paramedics, and his condition was described as critical and life-threatening.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that the bus driver remained at the scene of the accident after it occurred and did not attempt to flee. They indicated that investigations are still ongoing to determine the circumstances of the accident and its potential causes.
Following the accident, the westbound lane of Eglinton Avenue was briefly closed while police conducted their investigations, but it was later reopened after part of the investigations had concluded.
