The police reported that two shooting incidents occurred at a cinema in Toronto, where a suspect targeted the cinema doors on Saturday evening, and gunfire was directed at the same location again hours later in a second incident. According to Duty Inspector Todd Jukko in a statement to the media on Sunday, the first incident occurred at 10:30 PM while cinema-goers were inside the theater.

Just a few hours later, shortly before 6 AM, the police received a report of a second shooting incident at the same site. The police confirmed that no injuries were recorded in either incident.

Photos published by CP24 showed at least seven bullet marks on the glass doors of the theater, in addition to other damage to the entrance of the building.

Inspector Jukko stated, “The investigation is still in its early stages, and I cannot determine whether the incidents are connected or what the motive behind them might be.”

In a separate incident earlier this month, the cinema was evacuated after a fire broke out in one of its kiosks. The police then told CTV News Toronto that the fire was the result of an unknown object being set ablaze by two suspects, leading to the evacuation without any injuries.

Jukko urged anyone affected by these incidents or similar situations to reach out to partners like SafeTO who provide support and advice. He emphasized, “We understand how difficult such incidents are on the community, and I can assure you that the Toronto Police are dedicating all necessary resources to the investigation, and our firearms and gangs unit is working on the case.”
